Physical Health
Physical health is an important component of total health. A healthy person has "a good complexion, a clean skin, bright eyes, lustrous hair with a body well clothed with firm flesh, not too fat, a pleasant breath, a good appetite, sound sleep, regular activity of bowels and bladder in smooth manner, easy coordinated bodily movements. All the organs of the body are of unexceptional size and function "normally" all the social senses are intact. The pulse rate, blood pressure and exercise tolerance are all within the range of normality.
Mental Health
Mental health and physical health are interrelated. A sound mind ina sound body is an ancient saying. The attributes of a mentally healthy person will be...
A mentally healthy person feels satisfied with himself. He doesn't condemn or pity himself. He feels happy, calm and cheerful. There will be no conflict within themselves.
A mentally healthy person is well adjusted. Able to get along with others. He understands emotional need of others.
A mentally healthy person has good self control; he is not overcome by emotion; He is not dominated by fear, anger, love, jealously, guilt or worries. During problematic situation tries to solve it intelligently.
Social Health
Making friendships.
Everyday tasks of living effectively with others.
Showing socially considerate behaviour.
Spiritual Health
It is intangible something i.e., the spirit of man. Plato lamented: "For this is the great error our day - that physicians seperate the body from the soul". Spiritual health is a highly controversial matter and suffice it to say that not everyone will be prepared to accept it as a fourth dimension of health.
The WHO definition of health is considered by many to be an idealistic goal rather than a realistic definition.
